Attention all travelers, diners, foodies, and anyone looking for a place for a good meal. Initially was reluctant to try The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant mainly because of the name.
The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant will surpass your expectations starting with the fresh French bread served in the brown bag with soft butter. Everything I ordered was superb visually and gastronomically delicious.
The fried crab claws and fried catfish was prepared by someone that cares about how the food is served and plated. The breading on both of these dishes were light enough to enhance the golden color of frying with very little seasoning not to overpower the flavor of the freshness of the protein.
The crab stuffed Grouper is probably the best in Northern Mississippi and would be comfortable if compared to the same dish in a coastal state. The Crawfish stuffed French bread is in a league of its own. I was not prepared for this appetizer. The best way I can describe this dish is a mixture of crawfish, cheese, and cream cheese 'I'm guessing" served on top of split French bread loaf and lightly toasted. It's like an open face grill cheese sandwich for grown-ups. (Ok to share with the kids).
Writing reviews requires the same amount of energy good or bad for whatever the reason. I gave The Parish Oyster Restaurant 4/5 stars because, there is always room for improvement. The only complaint I have is, I would prefer to have broccoli with my entree.
The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant is located in Nothern Mississippi in the city of Hernando on Commerce Street less than a 1/2 mile off the Highway 55 Commerce Street exit. The value and quality of the food is equally linked, and, in my opinion, I won't say no names there are a few restauranter's in nearby cities that needs to visit The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant and get a taste of some real Cajun food. For those with inquiring minds just read some of my other reviews. This is without a doubt the best Cajon/Creole cooking you can get without going to Louisiana or some of the hyped-up Cajun restaurant imposters in Memphis, TN.
I have no complaints about the service. Upon arrival checked-in and was told there would be about a 20-minute wait. I was seated and place my order I forgot about checking to see how long I actually waited. If you are broad in the hips just ask your server for chairs with no arms. My meal was $$$ and you know what? I'm already planning on have lunch there tomorrow on 03/04/2022.
I'll sum up the aforementioned by saying, if you are traveling through Nothern Mississippi on Highway 55 and want to enjoy a good meal don't give it a second thought just put this address in your GPS, 427 E. Commerce St. Hernando, MS 38632 and enjoy your meal.
