Didn't have Grouper, which was the only reason I went there. They were serving flounder instead, which was meh. I did enjoy the green beans. They had hard, uncomfortable aluminum chairs as well, I mention this because if you have a back injury or are with someone that had a hip replacement, this isn't the place for you.
The food was excellent, as good as you'd find in New Orleans. The service was attentive, helpful, and fast, something you don't always get in New Orleans. My only regret is that we live in Texas and it will be hard to dine there frequently.
If you’re not going to allow pickup orders, you need to advertise that. Ridiculous. Be professional. I wasted 30 mins collecting an order from people because nowhere does it say you don’t offer pick up.
Lived in New Orleans for most of my Life! That said this Restaurant felt like Home. The Crawfish Bread, Gumbo and Stuffed Crabs are Amazing! Only negative is $$$
[No Photos - I ATE ALL OF IT! 😂]Listen. I KNOW… you are from the REAL PLACES that make TRUE South Louisiana food. I personally won’t order “Cajun” “creole” or “N’Awlins” ANYTHING north of I-10 and nobody south of I-10 describes their food that way… it’s Ya Mama’s red beans not “creole” red beans. No hesitation— BEST Po-Boy North of I-10 Hands down. I had ½ Shrimp & ½ Oyster, dressed, extra mayo (brought Hellman’s bottle to table!! #winning) add Tomato and no ketchup (that was on the menu- hey it’s Mississippi so I get it…). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ unreal… oysters were succulent and shrimp were perfect, lettuce and tomato mayonnaise slurry will remind you of Pirates Cove In Pass Christian or Deannie’s (old Bucktown version) or Frankie & Johnie’s…UNREAL!
By far the best food in Hernando. Had the Blackened crab stuffed Grouper with a sauce on top. With garlic smashed potatoes. So yummy. I’m allergic to shrimp so glad I have alternatives to pic from.
Honestly, I wish I had more backbone and demanded recompense when I was there. I politely asked if they deveined the shrimp and was told they do, low and behold, halfway through the meal I find a shrimp that CLEARLY had no been deveined and had its fecal tract entirely ignore. Yes, that dark black vein full of shrimp poop was VERY CLEARLY STILL THEREI attempted to speak to a waitress and a manager, who both INSISTED the shrimp had been deveined, and that the DARK BLACK LINE PERFECTLY DOWN THE BACK OF THE SHRIMP was just seasoning...wowThen chef then is sent out to argue with me about what kind of shrimp is served, and literally showed me fully intact shrimp, digestive tract STILL INSIDE and insisted that it was deveinedTHIS PLACE DOES NOT REMOVE THE DIGESTIVE TRACT IN ITS SHRIMP, THEY LEAVE THE FECAL MATTER INSIDE, DO NO BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY CLAIM OTHERWISE
My wife and I are excited every time we eat at the Parish. We bring family and clients and they request to go back there when they are in town. Food is always on point, great service, and Barry is always great. It’s difficult to eat anywhere else in the area as we always find ourselves comparing it to the parish and wishing we had not wasted our money elsewhere.
This place is awesome, the food is always good. The staff here always have the same energy every time we come here and we love this place. Barry, Kelly and Sarah are the best they always make me and my wife feel comfortable. The grill oyster are amazing. I will be there every Friday night.
My wife and I stopped in last night and had a wonderful meal. The chargrilled oysters were amazing and fresh. My wife had the crab stuffed grouper and it was also top notch. Our waitress was amazing, friendly and on her feet the whole time. And the fried crab claws were wonderful as well. I almost forgot the bread pudding , oh my god it was delicious. The only thing I don't like is I live 2 1/2 hrs away and can't support them more often. Great fresh food.
While traveling to New Orleans from St. Louis, we wanted some southern food. Glad we found this place. Has a great southern menu. Our waitress, Ally, was awesome. We all ordered the blackened grouper which was delicious. The food was excellent. Stop in if in if you are in the area
One of the BEST restaurants that I've eaten in the area....Sarah our waitress was WONDERFUL. I had Char-Grilled Oysters and the 2 piece Blackened Grouper. They were prepared to PERFECTION....my compliments to the chef!!! We will be back when we return to the area ...just FANTASTIC!
Well….. where do I begin. The restaurant was so cold my wife had to get her 2nd coat out of the car. The grilled oysters were tiny. For $28, they were way overpriced. The stuffed grouper was dry and bland. The french fries were actually very good as well as the spicy potatoes. It’s sad a restaurant’s best food are the starches. The blackened shrimp were very good. As far as service, my server was very young and inattentive. She might have come to the table 5 times in 2 hours. She never refilled our water. My son’s drink was empty at the end of the meal. At the end of the meal she was very rude. I still tipped her regardless of the poor service we received. I will think twice about coming back to this restaurant.
The few times we've been here, there is a line of folks waiting...but well worth it. Tonight was no exception. We came for the oysters but by the time we got a table and ordered, they didn't have a dozen left. But they had 5 left and the owner came to our table and offered them to us - free of charge. We hadn't even complained. Great ownership. He was there the entire time trying to make things run smoothly. High-5 to that guy, along with our sweet waitress and the hostesses. They have great patience. I hope The Parish can get a larger (or 2nd) location in the near future because they are succeeding. Oh, and the oysters were delicious!! The horseradish was the bomb!! Spicy 👌 Blackened grouper was cooked perfect.
I dont believe I've ever had a bad meal here. Also, their daily lunch specials are outstanding! If I must complain about something, it would have to be the dang metal chairs. They are uncomfortable and child size. I would say I have a normal/med size bottom and I can barely fit in these things.
Food and service was great. We had raw oysters, crab stuffed grouper and the crème brûlée. Best crab stuffed grouper I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back.
Food and service was great. We had raw oysters, crab stuffed grouper and the crème brûlée. Best crab stuffed grouper I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back.
Our first visit to the Parish while visiting from out of State. The food was absolutely to die for, service is friendly and fun. Atmosphere is good, can get loud but still an amazing experience.
Food and service were both great. I had raw oysters and a bowl of gumbo. Very good. We had a party of 8 and our server was very punctual with everything. Will for sure go back
Walked in to get a table for 4. No one was waiting. The hostess told us 25 minutes. We patiently waited. People walked in after we were waiting and they were seated immediately. We asked how much longer the wait would be and were told another 20 minutes ! She wasn’t very inviting. I’ve ate here before and the food was decent but I won’t be returning with wait staff the way it is.
Fantastic food. The atmosphere is great but be ready to spend some money they are Very expensive. The waitress we had was more interested in her phone than serving us but overall not a bad experience.
This is the best seafood restaurant in Hernando, with delicious gumbo, crab-stuffed grouper, fried grouper, oysters, and more. It’s worth the drive and I’ll be coming back!
Four of the five members of our party ordered the blackened grouper lunch special. We agreed it was about the best we’ve had anyplace, anything. Friendly service. No wine but byob. Highly recommended.
Stopped here with the family on a roadtrip and it did not disappoint. I had the lunch special - a blackened grouper with crawfish étouffée. It was delicious, perfectly seasoned fresh fish. Hope to be back on future trips.
Food was good but expensive for what you got. At least twice the manager stood by our table to have loud conversations with other patrons across the room so speaking with the person I was there with was difficult. During one of those conversations the manager nearly smacked me in the head with his elbow because he was so close and didn't even acknowledge that he nearly hit me. The waitress was great and I enjoyed the food. But not a great atmosphere at all.
Best shrimp and grits ever eaten. Superb service. Everyone in our party's food was the best ever. A great restaurant and will eat there again. The Parish is my new favorite restaurant.
Great Food, Great people, the crab cakes were a bit off but the owner promptly attended to it, exchanged a half dozen fried shrimp instead. It was greatly appreciated. Definitely will be returning. Best Fried Grouper I have ever had.
Been a couple of times for Happy Hour oysters! They are fresh and shucked right then. I had Turtle soup for the 1st time and OMG it was so good. Everything was great right down to the service.
It's just ok for me. The fish was over-seasoned (dare I say salty?). So was the shrimp. The gumbo was ok,.. definitely muddy! I'm from Louisiana, and I know oysters and cajun/creole food!! You're missing nothing. Sorry. 😏 Redeeming points for the best house salad and huge tasty onion rings. Bread pudding needed a little more time in the oven.
The best seafood in the area. Casual atmosphere with attentive and friendly service. Your Sunday's best or shorts and a t-shirt and you'll feel right at home here. Oysters on the half shell are a great starter, as are the crab claws. Had the "Grouper & Grits" and the only thing I regret is not taking a picture to share. My new favorite dish here! Finished off with the bananas foster cheesecake.
Super service, even the cook came out to better help with my diet restrictions. Awesome, awesome grits and shrimp. Plus large peel and eat shrimps with a unique dipping sauce. For the none sea food eaters they do have options. Like the best chicken strips and fries. My man couldn't eat all
I called to ask if they had started take out yet. Lady told me yes. I went there and it was 10 after 6 pm. I was told by the lady behind the bar they don't take to go orders after 6 pm. When I told her I was not told that, she blew me off and said. I'll let the hostess that we don't do to go orders after 6. 10 minutes after 6. I can tell you they won't have to worry about me bothering them again. I could understand if it had been 30 minutes or an hour, but ten minutes.
You don't find any places around these parts where you can get a piece of delicious grouper. This is that place! This unicorn of a restaurant is fantastic! Great food, great service. What more could you ask for?
I love to get a bit of my second home (as Houston is my first home and NOLA is my second) as their gumbo is FIRE DELICIOUS!!! If you go, I highly recommend their gumbo and some oysters!!!We just wanted a small bite to eat. The service was so good. And good even better. They always give you a delicious loaf of bread and a sweet smile on their face. It’s been a nice treat added to Hernando.
My brother invited us out and wanted to try this place. We are new to Mississippi and always up to a new experience. We were seated right away and the restaurant is pleasant. Our server was attentive and sweet. There were 4 of us dining and 3 of us were happy with our meals. My brother's order was incorrect and he wasn't all that pleased with the redo. Having said that, he said he would try again. We shall see.
I really enjoyed The Parrish! This was my first time eating there and it truly lived up to the hype! The food and service was phenomenal...I definitely recommend the boudin stuffed pork chop!! We will definitely be going back and recommend this restaurant to everyone!
We went just a little after they opened so it wasn't terribly busy, like a Friday evening would be. They gave us a small loaf of French bread to start, which was really flaky and made a mess lol and a side of butter that was rock hard, almost impossible to spread without ripping holes in the bread 😅We had a few appetizers to share, which were ok, nothing special. I had the stuffed grouper, which was really good with green beans and a side of slaw. My daughter had chicken fingers (which were huge and yummy) with a side of fries and the others at our table seemed to be satisfied with their entrées.Our waitress wasn't really attentive and we were having to wave her down for refills and extra napkins and such, which I'm sure got annoying with a group of 6! She did manage to come around once without being asked, which was to pick up the check 😮💨Some items were overpriced, considering the portions sizes, like $17 for 2 "Jumbo" crab cakes, which were actually pretty small! It's a nice enough place to try, especially in Hernando, but I'd like to see what other seafood places we can find.
So - I’m no psycho like the shrimp person below. However, I am typically pretty critical of local Hernando restaurants and their crap pre-frozen or generally awful meals. So trust me when I say this place is #1 in Hernando. And the best part for me is how everything always tastes fresh. Always. From the salad to the fish or oysters. My wife and I have had countless items on the menu, including Crème Brûlée . This place has a chef who knows what they are doing. Very rare for everything to not be perfect here. It’s well worth the price. And extra props for the fact that the owner seems to be there nearly every time we visit working hard and managing. Nothing but love from my wife and I for this place.
You will not be disappointed coming here. If you have to wait, it is worth it. Great food. We had a dozen oysters, the crab claws with a side of rice, and the stuffed crabs. There only thing that I would advise is when you shuck the oysters clean the blade before clearing the oyster. Several of them had alot of shells in the oysters. But that is a small thing. Give stars!
We are a small company out of Memphis. My team was bidding some work in Hernando that turned out to take a bit longer than expected. We figured we’d grab a late lunch before heading back to Memphis. A quick call to local friend, and we were recommended to try this place out. Having tried it, I’d say it’s worth driving from Memphis for. Everything was great. Maybe it’s because I’m used to “dealing” with memphis. But I can honestly say this is the best food and service I’ve experienced in years!
Attention all travelers, diners, foodies, and anyone looking for a place for a good meal. Initially was reluctant to try The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant mainly because of the name. The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant will surpass your expectations starting with the fresh French bread served in the brown bag with soft butter. Everything I ordered was superb visually and gastronomically delicious. The fried crab claws and fried catfish was prepared by someone that cares about how the food is served and plated. The breading on both of these dishes were light enough to enhance the golden color of frying with very little seasoning not to overpower the flavor of the freshness of the protein. The crab stuffed Grouper is probably the best in Northern Mississippi and would be comfortable if compared to the same dish in a coastal state. The Crawfish stuffed French bread is in a league of its own. I was not prepared for this appetizer. The best way I can describe this dish is a mixture of crawfish, cheese, and cream cheese 'I'm guessing" served on top of split French bread loaf and lightly toasted. It's like an open face grill cheese sandwich for grown-ups. (Ok to share with the kids).Writing reviews requires the same amount of energy good or bad for whatever the reason. I gave The Parish Oyster Restaurant 4/5 stars because, there is always room for improvement. The only complaint I have is, I would prefer to have broccoli with my entree. The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant is located in Nothern Mississippi in the city of Hernando on Commerce Street less than a 1/2 mile off the Highway 55 Commerce Street exit. The value and quality of the food is equally linked, and, in my opinion, I won't say no names there are a few restauranter's in nearby cities that needs to visit The Parish Oyster Bar & Restaurant and get a taste of some real Cajun food. For those with inquiring minds just read some of my other reviews. This is without a doubt the best Cajon/Creole cooking you can get without going to Louisiana or some of the hyped-up Cajun restaurant imposters in Memphis, TN.I have no complaints about the service. Upon arrival checked-in and was told there would be about a 20-minute wait. I was seated and place my order I forgot about checking to see how long I actually waited. If you are broad in the hips just ask your server for chairs with no arms. My meal was $$$ and you know what? I'm already planning on have lunch there tomorrow on 03/04/2022.I'll sum up the aforementioned by saying, if you are traveling through Nothern Mississippi on Highway 55 and want to enjoy a good meal don't give it a second thought just put this address in your GPS, 427 E. Commerce St. Hernando, MS 38632 and enjoy your meal.

Asked for waiter Sarah!! Order the Seafood Stuffed Bread, Charbroiled Oysters, Blackened Shrimp and thank me later!! The "CHEF" came out to ensure the food exceeded our expectation! The flavor is so amazing 👏. You taste the freshness of herbs, garlic and vegetables!! THERE ARE NO PICTURES BECAUSE WE ATE THE FOOD SO FAST!! SALUTE THE CHEF!!
Please arrive early to avoid the crowds and long wait. Paris has excellent Lousiana Inspired selections. You can't go wrong. We had onion rings as our appetizer, they were huge. The portions are nice. I had grilled catfish and shrimp. My husband has grilled shrimp, corn and potatoes. His food tasted better than mine 🤣😁😄. Arrive when they open and enjoy the experience.
My husband is from Louisiana so we were really excited to finally get the chance to check The Parish out. He went with the shrimp and grits and loved it. I'm not much of a seafood person so I got the tenderloin. Everything was amazing!!! Can't wait to go back and bring our sons.
It's all in the details and customer service. I was treated by a friend because they had an excellent opinion of their first experience. It was delightful.
Food is beyond amazing! Quick service. Definitely going to be a wait going here but is well worth it! Elk Chops to die for! We live an hour plus away. Came down for a concert & found this gem! We will be back!
First two times I visited food was amazing, especially the crab cakes, which is why I go back. Went last night and my crab cakes were sans crab, so I basically ate fried stuffing cakes (still good but not worth the price with no crab). Not sure if there’s a new chef in town or a crab meat shortage but I’d like the old cakes back please! Thanks!
Quality food for a fair price. Owner cares and will mingle with customers making sure everyone is satisfied. Staff are courteous. A business I'll happily recommend and support.
A wonderful little seafood restaurant. The service and atmosphere is very pleasant and the food even better. If you love seafood then this is a stop you don't want to miss. We will be back.
This was our 2nd time visiting the Parish Oyster Bar and once again I'm giving them 5 stars. Outstanding customer service, wonderful atmosphere, clean and the food is DELICIOUS!!! We enjoyed Oyster Rockefeller and Gumbo, which in my opinion are the best in this area, meaty crab claws, peel and eat shrimp, seasoned fish and fries hmm yep I know that's a lot of food for two people. ☺😋 Highly recommend.
It was our first visit to the Parish. My daughter and son in law live in Hernando. I live in Arkansas about 30 minutes from Little Rock.I was visiting daughter and my brother had flown in from Orlando,FL. Daughter hadn't eaten here before but all her friends had been telling her the food was great so we gave it a try. As I mentioned my brother is from Orlando and he was happily surprised that the oysters on the half shell and the peel and eat cold shrimp were as fresh and tasty as if he was back in Orlando. We all were surprised how delicious it was and so fresh tasting. We got there during happy hour and on that day the happy hour happened to be the raw oysters and peel and eat shrimp. My daughter ordered catfish dinner which was also delicious and popcorn shrimp dinner for my grandkids which was delicious too. The service was excellent, the beer was cold, food was great and the place was clean. Daughter and her hubby will be eating here again and I will be stopping by on my next visit here. Thank you The Parish Oyster Bar for a great evening see you again soon.
We've dined here several times, and both food and service have been impeccable during each visit. Fresh oysters, tender frog legs, and decadent bread pudding were the highlights of the most recent visit. The Parish is a welcome addition to the Hernando dining scene, and while there is sometimes a wait, it is certainly worth it.
Super busy in a good way. Lots of energy. Great New Orleans seafood dishes. Great appetizers. Large entree portions. Great bread pudding. Wonderful wait staff.
You have to go and have the oysters! The entire menu is great. The service was excellent and extremely nice. The atmosphere is definitely family oriented and they really make you feel welcomed. I will eat there again. We came from Cordova, TN. I'm already planning to return.
This place is spot on. I visited this restaurant twice so far and every time the service has been impeccable the food has been awesome and the atmosphere is great. This restaurant's very clean and pleasant. Can't recommend this place enough definitely will be returning
What a wonderful place! Great atmosphere, try the gumbo. The oysters were fantastic.Server was frequently and attentive!Had the fried catfish and it did not disappoint.Good pricing , we sat immediately at 4pm on a Thursday night.
I think the place has good potential but I was not impressed. We had six at our table and waited over an hour, which in itself is understandable. However, they brought us a small loaf of bread for us all to share. Two people got gumbo and didn’t like it. There was a whole small crab in the one of the bowls which was gross. I ordered the stuffed crab and the temp on the inside of the crab was room temperature. I didn’t want slaw and had to pay extra to sub a salad for both of the sides. The salad was very basic, small bowl of iceberg lettuce, tomato and a few shreds of cheese. The crab claws appetizer was good though. With some improvements, it could be good. The prices need to be adjusted to reflect the quality. Red Lobster, and any other seafood place I been to is better and that’s not saying much.
This was amazing French Quarter fresh seafood. Cooked beautifully, with great local brews. Fresh Oyster bar also, and has a pound and a half of snow crab on the menu. We ended up getting a second round of the oysters and would definitely be back for any future specials. The service was fast and friendly the chef was out checking people. It was perfection, they deserve an amazing location but the inside was well done. They serve friend fish and popcorn shrimp on regular menu also. Open at 3pm go look!
My parents and I ate here on a Thursday night. It was amazing. And I do not give positive reviews unless I am completely amazed. I have been in the restaurant industry for over 20 years and am from the gulf having spent a ton of time in LA, and this place has such amazing food and run so professionally I can’t believe they have only been open a week. Sarah was an amazing server and I will just say that we enjoyed ever minute of it. Get there early if you do t want to wait. But I’m telling you. It is worth the wait.
